100th Post - Woo-hoo!

Today is my 100th post!  Which to me feels like a celebration with lots of balloons...

...sipping on champagne...

...in a fun party dress...

...with sparkly heels...

...and enjoying gobs of laughs and smiles.

I originally started this blog in the summer of 2009.  I had three measly, pathetic posts.  I decided I didn't have the time to upkeep a blog and abandoned it.  Last summer, though, I began thinking that I wanted to try it again and refocused what interested me most and what I would like to write, post pictures about, and discuss with others on an weekly basis.  I am happy & proud of the content of my posts and hope it brings inspiration, a glimpse into my world, and a few laughs to you when you read it.  My viewership has increased significantly the past 4 months, which makes me smile.  I not only keep track of all the fantastic fashion, entertaining, design finds for myself, but hopefully for many others too.  I've always thought working for a lifestyle or fashion magazine would be a dream.  Well, I consider Shemmy Shemmy Shake Shake my own on-line magazine.  A place that can be referenced and referred to when decorating a modern, sophisticated home, setting a gorgeous tabletop, and searching for seasonable & stylish outfit ideas.  I've heard from some friends that what I do seems "like homework" and/or "a lot of work".  Some of my posts do take a lot of researching, pinning, agonizing, and tough decision making (choosing the mint colored bootie over the sparkly nude stiletto is an outfit make or break, people!).  And what will take me 2 hours to create, will only take you 2 minutes to scroll through and read.  However, I truly enjoy locating the perfect weekender duffel for an outfit or uploading pictures from the latest runway shows that will influence what each of us wear and buy the next season.  To me, this could never feel like the statistics or theology homework I did in college.  This is what I dream of getting paid to do someday and I believe, that I will all in due time.

I do not focus on my own life a whole lot with these posts, because I believe some thoughts, dreams, and ideas should really be left to pen & paper in a journal at home or whispered in bed under the sheets between two people that love each other unconditionally.  I don't think the world, facebook community, or blogosphere need to know or probably even care to know about the intimate details that go on in my everyday life and are discussed between the husb and me.  To me, there's a time and place to share life's best moments and most disappointing times and my blog isn't a forum for sharing each and every detail.  I still like to tell my friends & family our greatest news in person and see & hear people's reactions rather than send a personal message through mass communication such as a blog post.  I value the friendships I have and think it's most respectful to personally spread wonderful or tragic news through meeting in person or a phone call.  Facebook, blog, and twitter contacts are exactly that.  Contacts.  You don't call them for a wine night or Sunday brunch.  You can't hug them hello or see their laugh lines from all your stupid jokes.  I promise not to get all caught up in the online world thinking it is real life and forget those that made me the way I am today.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my posts as much as I enjoy creating and writing them.

Thanks for checking every so often to see what has been inspiring me lately!
~Brooke

Hear hear Brooke! Congrats on your 100th post! I can totally relate to what you said about a post taking 2 hours to put together but 2 mins to scroll through - it's something I never even considered before I started blogging, but it also seldom feels like a chore to me. Your blog is a recent discovery of mine and I really enjoy popping in for some inspiration! Here's to 100 more posts!

Congrats on your 100th post! I totally agree with you on dishing too much to the blogosphere. I keep mine less about my "social" life and more about what I love. I'm so glad that there are bloggers like you who do the same and have a fabulous sense of style! I can't wait to watch this here blog continue to grow.
