Modern Nursery Plan for Baby Shemmy #3!

Wow! I wasn't even sure I knew how to do this anymore, but I just need to see things planned out before I start buying and executing. And you know, nothing like actually getting it going four weeks before the due date. Since this little Shemmy is a surprise boy or girl I'm keeping it bright and modern + black and white. 

Maybe I'll actually post some 'after' pictures when it's ready to welcome the little one home!

The White Sofa. Should I Even Go There?

I can't stop thinking about putting a white sofa in our empty lounge room.  However, I have major hesitations with a black dog and a 9-month-old son.  My favorite of the moment is the Palisades sofa above.  It would totally fit the vibe I'm trying to get in that room.  A strong contender though is something from the KIVIK series.  First, the price point is great since it's from IKEA.  I haven't been out to check it out if person, but the pictures do look promising.  Plus, there is a sofa with pullout bed option that would be great for guests.

I do like the bottom three, which are considered a chair and a half because they wouldn't take up that much room.  I want to leave the room with a spacious feel after all the furniture is in there.

On a plus, I finally started painting today in Everett's room!  I had to get a room going with different colors than white and tan, which is what every room in the house is painted currently.  Hopefully it turns out well and I can post some pics.  I feel like I took a risk with my choices.

Still Searching for the Perfect Chandelier...

...in my allowed budget.

The top left light fixture totally caught my eye when I visited Lightstyle a couple weeks ago.  Yes, it's labeled to be hung over a pool table or island, but I think it could look just at home over a dining table.  The top right fixture is the same idea just $270 less expensive so a plus there.

Then on a different style altogether is bottom left which is at a great price range for the modern yet traditional style at $258.  The chandelier at bottom right is a new take on all the orbit-style fixtures out there, but it is $800.  Probably not happening.

My favorite though for this week is Jonathan Adler's Meurice Rectangular Chandelier, however it is currently out of stock and is the most expensive at $1,350.  I'm tempted to wait until it comes available though, because I love it that much.

Fashion to Room: Sequined Stripes Doing Alright

 I'm so in love with this skirt; the colors, the fit, the glitz.  I just wish I had an extra $750 laying around for frivolous purchases like this one.

I may try to use it as inspiration for a room in our home though...like our tiled room on the back of the house.  I haven't decided what to call it; lounge room (shooting for this), fun room (too kiddish), Florida room (too dated), back room (too easy).

I just purchased two Christian Chaize prints similar to the one below that I'm ready to get framed and hung on the wall.  Pretty sure I could lay back with a drink in my hand and imagine I'm sunning on the southern coast of Portugal any day in my lounge room.

I'm still on the black, white,  & gold kick.  It's pretty much infiltrated all throughout our home, except for Everett's room.  His is just full of bright colors.  So glad West Elm came out with a gold color for the Martini side table.  I have the white one in Everett's room and it's the perfect size.  Also, I wanted to point out that the zebra rug is actually a cowhide just made to look like a zebra.  I could never put an actual zebra rug in our house.  I just think that's wrong.  I'm also on a French kick since starting to read Bringing Up Bebe.  I love that book!  Probably try to do a book review once I'm finished.  It's informative and hilarious - the best kind.

APT with LSD - Interiors to Lust After

Hello, welcome to my (dream) home.  

I can't get over how cool Nicole Hanley Mellon's interiors are!  It must be pretty rad living in a hotel full time.  Mellon takes up residence at The Pierre New York with her husband, baby, and baby #2 on the way.  I just love homes sprinkled with animals, whether they are real, photographs, sculptures or stuffed.

I'm late with my post today.  I went to dinner with a friend last night and was exhausted when I got home.  I debated blog post or bed?  Bed sounded much more inviting so I crashed.  I do recommend Boca though if you live in the Tampa area!  We both got the specials of the night and were happy with our meals...especially the Homage to Ybor dessert. :)  What do you expect out of two pregnant girls??

I am not going to turn my blog into a 'mom blog', 'baby blog', or 'parenting blog'.  However, I do have many friends in the baby stage of life and since I have spent countless hours researching the perfect nursery items I thought I should share some of the great products I've come across in recent months!  Who doesn't love to look at a bright, fun nursery?  None of these are the items I've chosen for our nursery...I'll share those at a later date. :)

Dream Home Library: Karl Lagerfeld's Paris Apartment

For a book lover like myself Karl Lagerfeld's apartment is like a hot porn location.  His apartment on the Quai Voltaire in Paris is featured in the May issue of the French Architectural Digest.  

I'm pretty sure I'm one of the last persons to buy books on the iPad, Kindle or whatever else is now offering electronic "books".  I'm resisting hardcore (porn, again? Jeez, my mind is in the gutter).  I'm resisting the way I resisted cell phones my freshman year of college and the way I resisted Facebook a few years later.  I now have both.  I couldn't live without my iPhone, but could definitely survive without Facebook.  So who knows if I will end up buying books electronically down the road?  I no longer buy CD's for the ease of purchasing them from iTunes and having them directly uploaded to my library or better yet buying them directly to my iPhone while at work to keep my momentum going while I peruse new inspiration to blog about.  Ah, the convenience.  I do unfortunately have an issue with space at my house.  My two C&B Sloane Leaning Bookcases have been filled up for the last year and now stacks of books are beginning to form on dressers, side tables, and desks.  But there are just some books that one can't buy on a tablet; namely fashion and design books.  They are expensive, but I love 'em!  And these are what appear to be lining Karl Lagerfeld's entire Paris apartment that I'm so yearning to sprawl out and browse at upon hours and hours.  How heavenly is the image below?

I just watched Lagerfeld Confidential while on a plane a few weeks ago, a documentary filmed in 2007. It provides insight to his childhood, lifestyle, work ethic, daily surroundings (uh-mazing since in Paris), photography sessions, and a quick runway show scene.  I liked it.  The husb tuned out after he realized it was entirely in French and hew would have to read the documentary.  I like hearing people speak in their foreign language though, especially a beautifully spoken language like french.  

I also just read 'My List: Karl Lagerfeld in 24 hours' in Harper's Bazaar issue this month.  I'm getting my fill of Mr. Lagerfeld this month for sure!

The Magnificent Townhouse Sold

The news of Jenna Lyon's (Creative Director for J. Crew) Park Slope, Brooklyn brownstone selling came out a little over a week ago.  However, I really wanted to post these pictures 1) so I would always have record of them on my blog to look back and salivate gaze at them and 2) to share with anyone out there who possibly hasn't seen them by now at how gorgeously decorated her home was.  Pretty sure I could plop our little budding family down in this house, not change a thing, and be content for the long haul.

The townhouse was priced at $3.75 million, but was supposedly purchased by Vincent and Tracey Martin for $4 million, seven percent over the asking price.  The seven-bedroom, 4,400 square foot home was built in the 1880s.  How is that for mixing old with modern?

I'm totally stealing this ceiling for our baby's nursery. :)
