No Fashionista Friday today. It's my birthday so a little sidestep from the norm.
I can guarantee I won't be looking as fabulous as the lady above tonight. I won't be wearing a black strapless, chiffon party dress with pink tulle underlay and have my hair curled & styled sexily. Nope, not this year anyway. Don't get me wrong I'm still going to look as good as I can with this basketball shape poking out in front. I still wear heels daily even though my co-workers ask often 'How long are you going to keep wearing those?' Probably right up until I'm in my hospital gown. I don't have swollen feet and my balance is fine so why not?
I kind of forgot about the big day this year. It didn't even occur to me yesterday when I check the mail and saw a package from my bestie that it could be a birthday present. I was thinking 'Oh, maybe Lessers bought another cute onesie for the baby that arrived late'. (She already gave a super cute Rolling Stones onesie since we went to the concert together.) Low and behold, she remembered and on time! A day ahead actually. I opened the package and card and I'm thinking, 'Oh, yeah! My birthday!' Maybe it's the anticipated arrival of Little Shemmy or maybe it's just that birthdays are becoming less important the older I get. I turned down the offer for a friend to organize any kind of birthday dinner this year. I feel like I already get enough attention with baby showers and don't need anymore to-do about just me.
This will be a big year for me though and I'm ready to dive into number 32 with a big splash. Life will change forever this year. The husb and I will change from the roles we have always known as husband, wife, son, daughter, brother, sister, friend and become 'Dad' and 'Mom'. So weird. However, thrilling even more.
So cheers to those out there who can have a sip for me!
