Bits & Pieces

(Excuse the shadow I cast on this picture.  I never claimed to be a professional photographer.)
A simple dinner at home for two was how we spent our Valentine's.  Perfect for me.  I hate going out to a restaurant on "romantic" holidays with a set menu that's jacked up its prices for the evening.  The husb made a scrumptious dinner and surprised me with cupcakes from our go-to cupcake shop, Gigi's.  The abundance of sugar in these desserts is out of this world.

Next, I received my Harper's Bazaar in the mail on Tuesday and am pretty much done.  This is my favorite fashion magazine hands down.  I know that Vogue is the bible in fashion and InStyle is probably most popular, because it's more mainstream, but Bazaar?  It hits all the right spots for me.  I wasn't sure what the new look was going to be when they announced a redesigned package would be coming out.  It is sooooo fabulous!  The set-up of the articles is fantastic...loving how all the sections are differentiated throughout the magazine.   The Style and The Extras are definitely favorites as they focus on current trends.  The List is a fun read featuring Tom Ford this month.  Did anyone else read this yet???

The husb said I looked cute when he came out to say hello getting home from work yesterday and snapped a  quick pic.

He takes four, yep four, hot baths a day.  Who has time for this???  Maybe a housewife.  And I mean a real housewife; someone who stays home all day with no work or children duties.  But the owner and creative force behind a multi-million dollar business??  Seems absurd.  Anyway, love the guy and hope I can see the husb in one of his suits someday.

Next, I wanted to give a shout out to Danielle Moss for redesigning my blog.  I wanted a clean, modern, chic look with some bright colors thrown in for fun and she achieved just that for me.  When brainstorming on what I wanted I just made a list of my favorites brands and designers and found what all had in common: color.  Diane von Furstenburg, Missoni, Alice + Olivia, Matthew Williamson, Kate Spade, J. Crew - all of them loads of color.  I like black, white, and gray, but other than that I'm not much of a neutral person.  Beige is blah to me.  Thanks to Danielle for achieving a bright, fun, and modern makeover for Shemmy Shemmy Shake Shake!

Danielle's blog, Breakfast At Toast, is one I check regularly as we generally have common interests in style, travel, and fashion.  I suggest you check it out too.

Lastly, I think Beagles are one of the cutest breeds of dogs and the husb sent me this picture yesterday at work knowing it would bring a smile to my face.  Look at all those little cuties lined up at Westminster. :)

I would really like this to be our next dog purchase.

Glam Cam: Supermodel Naomi Campbell

Naomi Campbell, the supermodel many people love to hate.  I, on the other hand, is what Carrie Bradshaw would call a modelizer, only in a non-sexual sort of way.  I just love 'em.  Of course this is coming from just seeing them in gorgeous magazine spreads, dating rock stars and hot athletes (Tom Brady-love you), and rushing through international airports on their way to their next amazing shoot modeling swimsuits in Rio de Janeiro.  I don't know the side of models of waiting 2 hours for them to show up to a shoot, having phones through at me, or dealing with their high maintenance holier than thou attitudes.

I would love to see more models gracing magazine covers instead of celebrities.  I don't know why or exactly when this changed, but give the job back to those trained to show off designer's clothes on runways and editorial layouts and let actresses stick what they are best at, acting.

Naomi, 41, is getting asked to do jobs she did 20 years ago.  How's that for longevity in a model's career?  Her body and face look absolutely stunning especially considering all the hard partying she did through several years of her career.  However, she has overcome drug addictions and anger management issues and now signs all e-mails "Love &  Light, Naomi".  She arrived in complete supermodel style for her Harper's Bazaar photo shoot: 2 hours late draped in mink.  She then scoured the apparel racks to approve what she would be wearing, not the stylist. And apparently unheard of in today's modeling world she didn't even glance at the monitor between takes.  She's that good.

Harper's Bazaar New Look

Harper's Bazaar is celebrating their newly designed magazine with Gwyneth Paltrow as the cover model.  She shared some pictures and insight to the photo shoot on her blog GOOP.
