Chanel Spring 2012 Couture

Karl Lagerfeld presents his lines in the most imaginatively creative ways.  For the Spring 2012 Couture line the runway took place in an Air Chanel jumbo jet outfitted with airplane seats, skylights, and the double C's logo on the carpet.  The models donned outfits in a rainbow of blues, blacks, and creams.  The look was structured and clean, open collars and drop waists.

I have only uploaded a few of the images from the show, but it is worth seeing the complete line at Fashionologie.

Fashion Week Spring 2012 - Part 2 Recap

Come the end of the week, come the big hitters.

Let's take a look at some of my top picks:

Proenza Schouler

Great retro preppy from the young duo designers.

I'm digging the low-slung belts on these solid dresses.

Reed Krakoff

This green is a favorite of mine - looks good on almost any skin tone.  I bet we see Renee Zellweger in the dress on the right since Ms. Herrera is her red carpet go-to.

Carolina Hererra

This is...Out of Africa and I love it!  I'm into safari-wear any day, especially if my husband were to surprise me with a trip.  Michael Kors uses just enough leather for toughness, but not so much that a normal person couldn't wear it.  The snakeskin used on the dress below is perfect to frame the face.

Marc by Marc Jacobs was definitely one of my favorite collections.  I'm a sucker for Americana looks and I want that swimming suit for next 4th of July already...and I never wear one pieces!  Hoping for another invite to the Hampton's to sport this one.

Carrie Bradshaw totally would have worn this.  So hot, so city.

Tommy Hilfiger

Not crazy about these looks.  A lot of pattern, the fit is awkward to wear, and just too much.

Vera Wang

I really enjoyed the artfulness of Rodarte's pieces.  He brought Van Gogh into several looks.  As a girl from Kansas, I would love to wear the yellow dress with sunflowers to a summer wedding.

 J. Lo's going to come knocking for the dress on the right.  You know she loves some shimmer and sass in her dresses.

Narciso Rodriguez
This was another favorite collection of mine.  I think the dress below is just perfect for a summer tan, sipping cocktails at a rooftop bar overlooking a fabulous city.

Oscar de la Renta's line was gorgeous.  I enjoyed every bit of it.  Even though I'm happy with my choice (and especially the price) I still wish I kind of would have splurged and bought the Oscar wedding dress I really wanted.  Oh, well.  Maybe we can renew our vows one day like all the celebs and I'll get one then. Ha!  That will be the day.

Fashion Week Spring 2012 - Part 1 Recap

I picked out my favorites and some that are just plain out there to showcase on this inspiration blog.

I loved ALL Diane von Furstenburg...if I could only intern and work for this woman.  Fashionable and wearable - what a concept!

DKNY has some hot spring looks all with big, floppy hats, which are oh, so fab.

Derek Lam - many sporty and yellow looks.

Lots of purple from Prabal Gurung

Rag & Bone: 2 thumbs up - very downtown cool

The Row was full of white, long looks.  Clothes always do seem to drape and hang on Mary Kate & Ashley so why wouldn't their line look the same?

Hmmmm, Thakoon's are not for me, but needed to show.

Jason Wu was spot on.  I've always liked hot pants shown below, but wonder who can actually wear them?  Let alone from the amazing body one must have to sport high-waisted, thigh-bearing bottoms, but where do people wear them??  I remember an episode of SATC when Carrie Bradshaw wore them on a rooftop party in the summer after Samantha finally befriended the cross-dressing prostitutes in her building.  She pulled them off effortlessly of course.  So I guess it's NYC and a size 0.  Hrmph-I will never fit that category unfortunately!

Will Michelle Obama be calling for this one? We know she's a fan of Mr. Wu's designs.  Very black-tie and ladylike, must be worn with red lips.

Her eyebrows scare me.
Altuzarra

I've always been a huge fan of BCBG and from the looks of Spring 2012 the love will continue.

Okay, now just waiting for H&M and Zara to replicate these looks and make them affordable for me! :)
