Bits & Pieces

(Excuse the shadow I cast on this picture.  I never claimed to be a professional photographer.)
A simple dinner at home for two was how we spent our Valentine's.  Perfect for me.  I hate going out to a restaurant on "romantic" holidays with a set menu that's jacked up its prices for the evening.  The husb made a scrumptious dinner and surprised me with cupcakes from our go-to cupcake shop, Gigi's.  The abundance of sugar in these desserts is out of this world.

Next, I received my Harper's Bazaar in the mail on Tuesday and am pretty much done.  This is my favorite fashion magazine hands down.  I know that Vogue is the bible in fashion and InStyle is probably most popular, because it's more mainstream, but Bazaar?  It hits all the right spots for me.  I wasn't sure what the new look was going to be when they announced a redesigned package would be coming out.  It is sooooo fabulous!  The set-up of the articles is fantastic...loving how all the sections are differentiated throughout the magazine.   The Style and The Extras are definitely favorites as they focus on current trends.  The List is a fun read featuring Tom Ford this month.  Did anyone else read this yet???

The husb said I looked cute when he came out to say hello getting home from work yesterday and snapped a  quick pic.

He takes four, yep four, hot baths a day.  Who has time for this???  Maybe a housewife.  And I mean a real housewife; someone who stays home all day with no work or children duties.  But the owner and creative force behind a multi-million dollar business??  Seems absurd.  Anyway, love the guy and hope I can see the husb in one of his suits someday.

Next, I wanted to give a shout out to Danielle Moss for redesigning my blog.  I wanted a clean, modern, chic look with some bright colors thrown in for fun and she achieved just that for me.  When brainstorming on what I wanted I just made a list of my favorites brands and designers and found what all had in common: color.  Diane von Furstenburg, Missoni, Alice + Olivia, Matthew Williamson, Kate Spade, J. Crew - all of them loads of color.  I like black, white, and gray, but other than that I'm not much of a neutral person.  Beige is blah to me.  Thanks to Danielle for achieving a bright, fun, and modern makeover for Shemmy Shemmy Shake Shake!

Danielle's blog, Breakfast At Toast, is one I check regularly as we generally have common interests in style, travel, and fashion.  I suggest you check it out too.

Lastly, I think Beagles are one of the cutest breeds of dogs and the husb sent me this picture yesterday at work knowing it would bring a smile to my face.  Look at all those little cuties lined up at Westminster. :)

I would really like this to be our next dog purchase.

Hi! I am a Tampa blogger too! Krystal (Krystal's Kitsch) and I have known each other for over 10 years now and she told me you commented on her guest post for today so I had to check out your blog since you are from Tampa! We have a Tampa Bloggers meetup group and a blog (http://tampabaybloggergals.blogspot.com/) where we post about meetups we are having! Anddd I see you want a beagle for your next pup! I volunteer with the Tampa Bay Beagle Rescue (http://www.tampabaybeaglerescue.org/) so we are always an option for your next pup! We have adoption events where you can see all the pups interacting. I'm actually fostering a really sweet girl right now until she finds a home :)
